Fore! Billboard claims Boehner spends too much time on the green

From this story:

Motorists headed to Cincinnati on Interstate 75 are likely to notice a billboard that went up this week featuring a photo of U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-West Chester Twp., swinging a golf club.

“When was the last time you golfed 119 times in one year?” the sign asks.

The billboard is an attack on Boehner funded by the national Blue America Political Action Committee. The PAC has raised $16,000 for billboards and other media attacks on Boehner.

“We think we’re going to spend much, much more than that on Justin (Coussoule, Boehner’s Democratic opponent),” said Blue America PAC founder Howie Klein.

The billboard refers to reports that Boehner’s PAC spent more than $80,000 on golf outings last year, and Boehner headlined 119 Republican fundraisers.

Boehner campaign spokesman Cory Fritz calls the billboard’s claim “false.”

“Congressman Boehner held seven golf events last year, not 119,” Fritz said. “He did hold 119 events in the District and across the country to benefit conservative candidates…but only seven were golf outings.”

“Being minority leader or speaker of the House means John Boehner has a bigger platform to push for the priorities and values of the people of the 8th District of Ohio,” Fritz said. “If that makes him a bigger target for folks outside of Ohio who disagree with those priorities, so be it. It goes with the territory.”

Despite Boehner’s prominence on the national stage as he aims to become speaker if Republicans take back the House in the fall, Coussoule’s campaign says this sort of help from outside the district has been unusual.

“We are really, really a grassroots campaign,” said Alliea Phipps, Coussoule’s campaign manager. “I don’t think we’re getting more money because he’s running for speaker of the House, but I think we’re getting more money because he’s forgotten the office he’s currently holding and the people he’s representing.”

Coussoule’s campaign has raised $60,407 by June 30, according to his July Federal Elections Commission filing. The vast majority coming from Ohio residents donating less than $500 each.

Boehner’s campaign has raised nearly $4.5 million. His biggest source was also small individual contributions; those required to be listed were mostly from Ohio. He also received roughly $1.7 million in large contributions from PACs across the country.

I support Boehner and many decent people wanting our country back will also support him. At least Boehner is trying to take over the national healthcare system or create a big cap and trade tax scheme. Boehner isn’t trying to run the auto industry. Oh, and Ford made it without Obama! I support Boehner and Portman!

Of course they choose to conveniently ignore the fact that Blessed Leader has played more rounds of golf in his 18 months in office than Bush did in his whole 8 years.

Henry…who are you to “take our country back?” Just because the present administration is not your choice doesn’t mean that your country has been stolen.Have you forgotten what our republic is about? If you believe in “your country,” your own absurd statement should scare you. Boehner is the one taking great liberties with the concepts inherent in our constitution and in the design of the representative system. He represents big business not you or me. Please think about it rather than rattle off the mantra of taking the country back. Honestly, you want to take it back from the people who elected this administration? You guys are scary and are dangerously wounding the existence of our nation and its processes.

Carol, buy a vowel, Businesses provide ALL the jobs. Poor homeless welfare recipients (Democrats) provide nothing. You act like it’s bad thing to support businesses. You are scary. Please give us ONE example of how John Boehner took a single liberty from anyone. That’s You WON’t find it. I think Henry means we need to take back control of our Country from those that wish to destroy it. AKA, Obama and his Socialist regime. John Boehner wins every elction in his district by a LANDSLIDE. That’s because his district isd filled with hard working Americans that appreciate his efforts for SUPPORTING the big businesses that provide us all jobs. Poor ingnorant people like you despise Boehner because he believes you should climb off your couch every day and support yourself! YOU are wounding the existence of this great Country.

Carol, isn’t a Republic about the will of the people? Doesn’t that mean our elected officials should choose to vote based on the will of the people? Of course it does! Why did Health Care Reform Pass when 75% of the American people opposed it? Why does our current Administration continue to ignore the wishes of it’s people? There are countless examples. “We the People” have lost control of our Government, and “We teh People” need to take it back. Until you understand that you will continue to be a big part of the problem.

Adolf, do you have a Master’s Degree like Boehner does. Those who fail to prepare for their life always complain about those that do! If you believe that Boehner played 119 rounds of golf last year, that explains why you are not working. Perhaps you should enroll in a few common sense classes at the local University.

Yes..the will of the people not the will of those who warp the system by pronouncing outright lies and bending the will of the people through big brother (read Right wing) power brokers propagandizing the information. The power of wealth now resides in the hands of an ever growing rich class, leaving the middle class with fewer and fewer resources. Boehner and company are laughing, and cavorting on the golf course and then all the way to the bank while Suzi and Joe middle class figure out what bill to short in order to feed their kids this week. You may think he represents you and maybe his interests are the same as yours. sad.

Dingleberry..check your facts. Boehner’s bio credits him with a BS in business from Xavier. The Masters is a figment of your imagination. Also…what I mean is that “we the people” duly elected Obama and your mantra of taking the country back is effectively saying that those who voted for Obama are not of the republic. We may disagree but that makes me no less a citizen than you.

You still don’t get it Carol. John Boehner is elected by a huge margin every single time. That basically means that it is YOUR warped ideas that are not supported by the people. Don’t you get it? John Boehner is doing what a majority of the people want him to do. If that doesn’t fit YOUR ageda, then it is you that is the oddball!

Your words: what I mean is that “we the people” duly elected Obama and your mantra of taking the country back is effectively saying that those who voted for Obama are not of the republic”. Are you saying that same logic doesn’t apply to Boehner. “We the People” keep electing Boehner because he is doing what we want him to do. And, for the record, the Dingleberry didn’t say anything about taking the Country back. That was a previous post.

Death panels….birthers…Bachman with Congressmen being anti American… Bending the will of the people? Dependency oh Beck, Limbaugh etc to drive wedges in society with no courage to buck them. That is the result of poor leadership. The list looms large if you consider the twisting of facts and words. I come from a long line of stalwart Republicans who no longer donate to that party. There is no honor left in the leadership. Tea Partiers who couldn’t even give voice to why they were protesting.

I didn’t indicate that Boehner is not my elected rep but rather that there of those of us who disagree with him and believe that he is not actively involved in the work of the job. He has minions for that. I do mean clearly that elections are won and lost and lived with. Obama won..will of the people. I am voicing my opposition to Boehner and support of Coussoule. My right as a citizen during a season of elections. If Boehner is re-elected, I will try to work through his office as I always have. Whether or not Dingleberry said it, it is part and parcel of the position.

Carol, what the Republicans call ‘death panels” are an obvious reality of public health care. Someone has to decide when the money stops and when something is not worth treating anymore. You know that is true. So that is absolutley a FACT. Strike one! For the record, I am not a birther, but there has NEVER been any proof that Obama was born in the US. NEVER! The birth certificate he claims as the original was printed on a laser printer. Here’s a hint; those weren’t around when he was born. It’s irrelevant at this point, but you darn sure can’t call it an outright lie when half the legal minds in the Country say it is true. Strike Two! People have a choice to tune into Beck and Limbaugh OR NOT. The fact that they have a larger following than the President is proof enough to me that the vast majority of Americans think the same way and believe the current Administration is a disaster for America. Who in the heck do you think is honorable in the Democratic Party? Look how many are being busted for ethics violations! You know it’s bad when the party in charge can’t sweep it under the rug. These thugs are unbelievable. What about Charlie Rangel humping his male aid and offering him a Government job. Is that honorable? If all that is okay with you, you just keep blasting Boehner for enjoying golf. It seems like all the ammo you have! Strike Three, you struck out.

I talk about Boehner’s golf not because of golf but because he spends more time using it as a marvelous pastime and a fund raising mechanism than he does thinking about his constituents. I agree that the Dems have issues with individuals who lack honor! I still cannot see honor in general with the Repubs right now. They hijack the truth. Yes..people do have a right to their Becks and Limbaughs” but it is unfortunate that they take entertainment as truth. Both Beck and Limbaugh claim status as entertainers. Hawii confirms the certificate of birth and the newspaper on file contains the birth announcement. Half the legal minds? I doubt that. Do you have data? Death panels as you define it has been on the hands of a clerk at the insurance company. That’s what you prefer? The death panel fear was generated with the idea of a doctor discussing with a patient what their wishes would be…the same as a living will. That is what was morphed into something to scare seniors.

Boehner has never faced a West Point grad with Army and business experience who was willing to fight for the people of this district before! Someone who was willing to expose the fact that he spends so much time screwing around on the golf course instead of working to fix the polluted lake in Mercer County or bringing business back to downtown Hamilton, Middletown or Dayton. Don’t even get started on the hundreds of thousands of lost jobs in the district. He’s too busy claiming the number is wrong when he knows it is right. Just google it. Too bad the reporter did not. And check out Boehner’s interview in Golf Digest where he brags about getting to golf over 100 times a year. It’s not here in the 8th. Not with that tan.

If American Citizen wants to discuss ethics in the two parties and compare the issues, we might go to Delay, Gingrich (with whom Boehner was tied), Sanford, Ensign, etc. You accuse Rangel of sex issues. His are financial in nature. Massa is the questionable one there. So yes, bad stuff in both parties. Doesn’t make it right nor does one excuse the other.

First, I am pleased that John Boehner’s approval rating is very good! He is a good man and deserves to golf as he wishes! I look forward to his future efforts after the election to repeal Obamacare and assure the govt. releases General Motors to it’s own entity. Maybe we can find out what Obama has his Czars doing and put the FCC back in form, after having been tampered with. Obama golfs a bit and I don’t see billboards put up badmouthing him!

boehner does represent at least 90%of the people of west chester. the ones that are rude, disconsending, selfish, and teaches their children to disrespect everyone. just look at boehners’ own children, rude, selfish, disrespectful, and only cares about what they want and don’t care who they hurt in the process. of course they did have an excellent example for a father. that is wh he keeps getting re-elected because all the people who care moved away from the insanity that is the 8th district of ohio.

Well people All I can say is you-all should check out how much the President plays golf and actually sometimes he is play golf when there is a crisis that he should be attending to. Also check out the vacations he and his family have taken in his time in office. Michele and daughter are in Spain right now and the people are footing 99% of the bill. They spend the taxpayers money like it is water.Oh!and wasn’t it last month a vacation in Bar Harbor.Think before you open your mouths. If your going to get p* at anyone, get p** at the way our country is being demoralized, our Constitution being tromped on,are rights being taken away. What other President has ever made an apology for the American people. NONE. What other President has ever bowed to another countries leader. NONE You-all better get with it and look at whats being done without the peoples knowledge or consent.Do not turn a blind eye and see only what suits you. Maybe you like your decisions made for you. Maybe you like being told that if you don’t pay to have insurance then the government will fine you. Our country is being pushed into becoming a socialist country and you are griping about a man playing golf????

First, I am pleased that John Boehner’s approval rating is very good!” (Kash) Mr. Boehner’s “approval” rating with the whole country is 12% have a favorable opinion of him. This means a couple of things. One, 88% of the American public are smarter than a good bit of Butler County. And, second, anyone who says 12% is very good gets exactly the trash, like Boehner, that he deserves.

To just the facts> I am one of those Democrats that you call homeless welfare recipients…however you missed one fact…I am an American and I have owned and operated a small business in Butler County for almost 20 years. I value and take care of my employees and make a positive contribution to the economy of SW Ohio. John Boehner has done NOTHING positive for SW Ohio in those 20 years. If you think trickle down economics works at any level, you are mistaken. The only thing that trickles down, is p*ss down your leg. The only jobs Boehner has helped create in the last 20 years are NOT IN SW OHIO, the are NOT EVEN IN AMERICA.

John Boehner is best at what he does and that is circumventing every question he is asked. If he knows so much, why didn’t he run for president against Obama? He is a known socialite and has forgotten the common man. He is more concerned with getting a tan and is actually darker than the man he is continually criticizing. I don’t doubt the golf stories are mostly true. I think there should be term limits and we wouldn’t have these sort of issues. Fresh ideas are a must with the state our country is in.
