Bengals bring back fullback featured on “Hard Knocks”
One of the featured players from HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series focusing on the Bengals this summer is back.
Fullback Fui Vakapuna, who was let go in the final moments on cut-down day, has been signed to the active roster from the Arizona Cardinals practice squad, according to a press release from the team.
Longtime backup offensive lineman Scott Kooistra was released to make room for the 6-foot, 260-pound Vakapuna, who was a seventh-round draft pick by the Bengals out of Brigham Young.
Kooistra’s release is probably more good news, as it likely means first-round draft pick Andre Smith is about ready to start contributing on the offensive line.
During the “Hard Knocks” series, fullback Chris Pressley beat out Vakapuna for a spot on the Bengals’ practice squad. Pressley, though, was picked up last week by Tampa Bay.
To fill Pressley’s spot on the practice squad, the Bengals signed rookie tackle Gerald Cadogan of Penn State, according to Bengals.com.
